We have changed the settings for payments for Club and Individual entries on the Edit Meet page.
Improvement 1: Streamline Payment Settings
Previously all options were available to select all the time which we believed was confusing since some options don't really make sense to be selected together. For example you could select which payment options to enable during entry even when the pay later option was selected for payment timing.
We have changed the layout of the sections, and automatically hide / select options when appropriate.
The Changes
When you select Pay on Entry
- You do have the option to choose which payment methods to enable. These are presented to the user during entry.
- You do not have the option to enable the entry cost on the confirmation screen or validation email
- You do not have the option to display a payment button on the confirmation screen or validation email
This makes sense because with Pay on Entry, the user will pay before they reach the confirmation screen or receive the validation email.
When you select Pay Later
- You do not have the option to choose which payment methods to enable
- You do have the option to enable the entry cost on the confirmation screen or validation email
- You do have the option to display a payment button on the confirmation screen or validation email
This makes sense because with Pay Later, the user will pay after the entry is submitted - you may want to display the cost on the confirmation screen or in the email and you may want to display the Pay button in either of these locations.
Note that the Pay button displayed on the confirmation screen / email in this scenario will take the user to the Meet Payment page, where they see all their entries and payments, and can pay for the meet in a single payment.
Improvement 2: Separate Confirmation / Email Text
Previously, the confirmation page, displayed after a user submits an entry, and the validation email, sent after the entry was processed, both displayed the same text.
This is not ideal because you may want to display different text in each location, for example:
- Confirmation Screen: Thank you for your entry - please check your validation email and use the link in the email to make payment.
- Validation Email: Please make payment using the button below.
The Changes
We now have separate fields for text for the two locations, enabling you to have different information in each place.
We have also enabled formatted text for these fields, so you can add bullet points etc if you wish (for example to display bank account details).
Note that the validation email will now not automatically include bank details - if you wish to provide bank details, please include them in the formatted text.
